Omniscarya Haven learning environment with journalists collaborating

Our Story

We're a scrappy team of former journalists who couldn't stand watching our industry crumble. Back in 2018, we took matters into our own hands and built something new. Not just another news outlet, but a place where digital storytelling gets reimagined from the ground up.

Our Mission & Vision

At Omniscarya Haven, we're not just preparing journalists for today's media landscape — we're building the storytellers who'll shape tomorrow's. From our cozy home base in Killarney, we've created something I'm genuinely proud of: a blend of old-school journalistic values with cutting-edge digital techniques.

We believe journalism isn't dying; it's evolving. Truth-telling never goes out of style, but how we deliver those truths keeps changing. That's why our programs don't just teach skills — they foster adaptability, critical thinking, and a healthy skepticism that's at the heart of great reporting.

Liam O'Connor

Program Director

After 15 years as an investigative reporter with stints at The Guardian and RTÉ, Liam jumped ship to help build something new. He's the architect behind our unique curriculum that blends traditional reporting with digital storytelling. When he's not mentoring the next generation of journalists, you'll find him hiking in Kerry with his ancient border collie, Scoop.

Our Haven Community

The Heart of What We Do

Beyond our core team, Omniscarya Haven thrives thanks to our community of visiting lecturers, industry partners, and — most importantly — our students and alumni. We're not just a training center; we're a growing network of media innovators who support each other's work and push the boundaries of digital journalism together.
